Tropical Storm the storm is projected to strengthen into a rare Category 5 cyclone as it shifts towards the Caribbean island, bringing life-threatening flash flooding and landslides.

This weather system, which had wind speeds of up to 195 km/h as of 6:00 AM GMT, is now shifting toward the northwest in the Caribbean region and is anticipated to reach land by midweek, based on data from meteorological authorities.

Alerts of power cuts and structural damage have been announced as this storm brings up to 76cm of rainfall and storm surges as high as thirteen feet above typical tides. "Seek shelter now," inhabitants have been advised.

Melissa is the thirteenth hurricane in this year's Atlantic hurricane season, which normally finishes in the eleventh month.
