AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and monstrous metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a terrifying foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Transformations
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Material
Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
